Job Details

The organisation is seeking individuals to join their Youth Programme, with a minimum commitment of 10 weeks. This initiative is dedicated to supporting young refugees and asylum seekers in the Epirus region of Northern Greece, providing them with a sense of community and unique experiences. While there are specific requirements for applicants, the most crucial one is a strong desire to work with young refugees and a commitment to improving their situation in Greece. Given the dynamic and challenging nature of the work in the field, the organisation operates transparently, requiring team members to be quick learners and open to constructive feedback. The Youth Programme has openings for various roles, and applicants are encouraged to explore their versatility and creativity. The roles encompass:

Children's English Teacher: Responsible for designing and delivering English classes focused on basic language skills, with an emphasis on making the classes enjoyable. While TEFL or equivalent experience is advantageous, it's not mandatory.
Excursion Lead: This role involves planning and leading weekend excursions, a program highlight. It requires an organised, methodical approach and the ability to engage and lead groups of children.
Science and/or Maths Lead: These individuals use their knowledge of science and/or maths to create engaging classes within the existing curriculum.
Workshop Lead: Responsible for facilitating workshops with a focus on thematic content or social and emotional learning. These workshops help students apply the English vocabulary they've learned and promote self-awareness through creative and mindful activities.

Regardless of the specific roles undertaken, team members are expected to contribute to planning, preparation, and active participation in community engagement activities such as picnics, community lunches, sporting events, and more.

In certain periods of the year, demand is extremely high, and the volunteer houses might be full. If you have the means to pay for your own accommodation, please let them know. They would still be happy to host you if space is available. However, in a situation where the volunteer houses are full, this would allow us to offer a volunteering opportunity to someone that cannot afford to pay rent.
