Since 2023, Uzbekistan has entered a new stage of education reform — improving teaching quality, modernizing curriculum, expanding preschool access, and preparing students for a competitive global future.

2022–2026

National School Development Program

Uzbekistan's government launches a comprehensive education reform agenda: teacher development, modern curriculum, digital transformation, preschool expansion, and stronger foreign language outcomes.

2023

Smart Tongues Education Programme Launched

The Ministry introduces the Smart Tongues Education Programme. Starting with approximately 500 foreign teachers, international specialists begin working in public secondary schools nationwide.

2024–2025

Continuous Growth & International Partnerships

The program expands rapidly. UNESCO and the Ministry sign an agreement to support teacher education transformation. New Regional Centers of Pedagogical Excellence are established with UNICEF and Islamic Development Bank support.

2025–2026

Curriculum Reform with Cambridge

UNICEF, the Ministry, and Cambridge University Press & Assessment collaborate on a unique national curriculum reform — shifting from memorization to practical knowledge, communication, and critical thinking.

2026+

Nationwide English Proficiency Initiative

A nationwide initiative covering secondary schools across Uzbekistan. Level-based student groups, international teacher support, and National Certification exams — preparing students for scholarships, exchange programs, and global careers.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in English, English Language Teaching, Education, Linguistics, or a closely related field; or
  2. Bachelor’s degree in another field, together with:
  • A recognized CELTA, TESOL, or TEFL certificate of at least 120 hours; and
  • At least one year of relevant English-teaching experience.

Additional Requirements

Candidates should also have:

  • Strong spoken and written English proficiency;
  • Good communication and classroom-management skills;
  • Experience teaching secondary-school students;
  • A valid passport and willingness to relocate;
  • A clean professional and safeguarding record if available;
  • The ability to provide verified education and employment documents if requested;
  • Professional conduct and willingness to follow school policies, curriculum requirements, and the official dress code.
