Assistant Volunteer Teacher – Job Description

As an Assistant Volunteer Teacher, you will work alongside local foreign language teachers in Georgian public schools to create an engaging and interactive learning environment. Your role is to support students' language development while promoting cultural exchange and global awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist local teachers during English (or other foreign language) lessons.
Communicate with students primarily in the target language to improve their speaking and listening skills.
Lead conversation activities, games, group work, and interactive classroom exercises.
Share your culture and learn about Georgian traditions through school and community activities.
Participate in extracurricular events, language clubs, workshops, and school projects.
Encourage students' confidence, creativity, and active participation in the classroom.
Collaborate with local teachers to introduce modern, student-centered teaching approaches.
Build positive relationships with students, teachers, and the local community.

TLG - “Foreign Language Development and Support Initiative” is a long-running governmental program in the Republic of Georgia that has been in operation for 16 years. It is fully administered by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Georgia (MES) and the National Centre for Teacher Professional Development (TPDC).

The goal of the Initiative is to support the learning and teaching process of foreign languages through the continuous professional development of teachers, the introduction of a variety of pedagogical methods and the practical application of foreign language teaching in the learning process. Also to promote foreign language fluency in Georgian public schools, as well as amongst the local teachers.

The program has attracted thousands of volunteer teachers from many different countries, including the United States of America, Canada, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, France, Germany, Italy, China and others.
