The TEFL Org wins a Queen’s Award for Enterprise

The TEFL Org was founded back in 2008, and over the last 14 years we’re proud to have picked up numerous awards and accolades.

But this year, we have won our biggest, most prestigious award to date!

We’re extremely excited to announce that The TEFL Org has won a 2022 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of International Trade!

Now in its 56th year, the Queen’s Award for Enterprise recognises the outstanding achievement of a UK business. It’s the most prestigious award a UK business can win, with Her Majesty The Queen personally approving the winners.

In the middle of the 2008 financial crisis, The TEFL Org started life in a garden shed in the North of Scotland. Co-founded by experienced TEFL teachers, Jennifer MacKenzie and Joe Hallwood, the goal from day one was to provide top-quality training delivered by real teachers, and help others to take advantage of the exciting opportunities out there in the world of TEFL.

To say a lot has happened over the past 14 years would be a bit of an understatement! From humble beginnings in a garden shed to now selling courses in 154 countries, we’ve trained over 150,000 TEFL teachers who have used their TEFL Org qualification to teach English across the globe.

The International Trade award recognises our accomplishments in increasing overseas earnings, as well as our strong corporate social responsibility. It marks a culmination of year-on-year growth in international sales, and The TEFL Org now employs more than 40 staff and trains 20,000 teachers internationally every year.

Managing Director, Andy Healy, had this to say:

“We have been pushing international sales for a while now, and it’s truly a delight to see the hard work of the team and the globally renowned reputation we’ve worked so hard to build come to fruition in such a fitting way.

“We pride ourselves on the simplicity, flexibility and quality of our courses which appeals to a varied global audience and hope that winning this award will open even more doors for us as we continue our expansion in the overseas market - helping more people across the globe enjoy the flexible lifestyle that teaching TEFL offers.”

The TEFL Org will be presented with the award by one of the Queen’s representatives and will be invited to attend a royal reception later in the year.
