Typical working conditions (exact details vary by school and city):
- Contract length: 12-month renewable contract
- Teaching hours: usually 20–30 teaching hours per week
- Working hours examples:
- Kindergarten: roughly 09:00–18:00
- Elementary / middle hagwon: roughly 13:00–21:00 or 14:00–22:00
- Class size: often 8–16 students per class
- Curriculum: in most schools a structured curriculum and materials are provided, with space to add your own ideas and activities
Locations include Seoul (Gangnam, Seocho, Mapo, Seongbuk, Gangdong, etc.), Gyeonggi Province (Bundang, Yongin, Guri, Uiwang, and more), and major cities such as Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Incheon, Cheonan, Cheongju, Ulsan, Gwangju, Changwon, and others.

- Monthly salary: typically 2.3–3.5 million KRW

- Severance: one month’s salary bonus on completion of a 1-year contract
