Job Details

2 enthusiastic, committed native level EFL teachers required for a very well-run language school with an excellent reputation, to teach students ranging from 6 years to young adults, including Cambridge exam preparation. 1 of the posts to teach nursery students of 2 years.

Start date September 16th, but must be in the town by September 11th for paid induction training.

An Andalusian town that has a much lower cost of living than the big cities and a high quality of life.

Positions are for highly-motivated, native level English teachers who hold a CELTA or equivalent and a degree, and who have a minimum of one year’s experience teaching young learners and teenagers in groups, as opposed to one-to-one classes. However, Grade A CELTA candidates will be considered with less previous experience/excellent references.

There are 24 teaching hours per week; 22 hours in the afternoon and 2 hours in the morning. Short timetable on Fridays of 2 hours.

Excellent contract and conditions; they appreciate that teachers not only have to be in class, but also have to prepare classes and mark homework, therefore we give an excellent full-time contract of 34 hours, only 24 of these are teaching, while the class preparation and homework marking are contemplated in the other 10 hours. They provide opportunities to develop as teachers through in-house training.

They also guarantee our teacher a maximum of 6 different levels only, which are then repeated throughout the week, so as to greatly reduce class preparation time.

Young learners and teenagers make up our student base and therefore we are extremely interested in teachers who have experience with these groups. They are looking for teachers who genuinely like working with children, believe teaching should be fun and dynamic, and have the necessary enthusiasm and energy. There will be Cambridge exam preparation classes, so experience is highly valued, although we are willing to train teachers who don’t have the experience, but are willing to learn and be trained in this. There is a maximum of 11 students per class.

The school has a very good reputation and is the largest in the town. It is well-organized, professional and well-resourced with plenty of support and materials for teachers. The work environment is friendly, open and professional, in spacious air-conditioned classrooms (each teacher has their own classroom, so no running from class to class) each equipped with a computer, internet, a whiteboard and projector.

The school is located in Puente Genil, which is in the centre of Andalusia. The town has a population of 30,000 and these positions would suit teachers who prefer a lifestyle away from a big city and who would like the opportunity to experience Spanish life and culture in a town, rather than a city. The plus side of being a town, is that it is extremely cheap to live here compared to the big cities and it is a walkable town, with no need to take public transport. Puente Genil has a train and bus station and is well-situated for seeing Andalusia, being 30 minutes from Cordoba, 2 hours from Malaga, and 1.5 hours from Seville and 2 hours from Granada.

Additional Benefits

Extremely competitive salary for 24 teaching hours per week of 1450€ net, with increments according to experience and pay rises yearly as experience is valued.

The teaching timetable is afternoons, 4pm to 9.30pm, expect Fridays with just 2 hours of 4.30pm to 6.30pm and 2 morning classes of 1 hour each 2 days a week. No weekend work.

Opportunities to develop as teachers through professional in-house training sessions for 2 to 3 hours a week during the first term.

Examining work carried out in addition to a teacher's normal timetable will be paid extra.

Full Social Security cover and health cover.

2 weeks fully paid holiday at Christmas, 1 week at Easter plus all local and national holidays.

They have an excellent flat available, which their teachers often rent, quite near the school and a very good landlord. But they also have a list of known landlords in the town and teachers can also reach out to them too. Being a town, not a city, rental prices are much lower.

Full help getting residency documents and the administration costs involved will be also be paid by the company, although 2 visits to Cordoba will be needed BEFORE the job starts as we cannot hire without . EU residency. EU passport holders must only apply, as we are unable to obtain residency papers for non-EU passport holders.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Native level English speaker who is eligible to work in Spain, i.e must have European citizenship (EU passport).

Possess a university degree and a CELTA or equivalent. Qualified PGCE teachers are also welcome to apply for the post.

A minimum of one year’s experience teaching children in groups, as opposed to one-to-one classes, is required. However, applicants with good CELTA or equivalent results who have less experience/excellent references will be considered for the post.

Cambridge exam preparation experience is necessary, although strong candidates without it will be considered if willing to be fully trained in the first term in addition to the above-stated workload.

EU passport holders must only apply, as we are unable to obtain residency papers for non-EU passport holders.

Outstanding classroom management skills are a must, as are excellent organisational skills, flexibility and a willingness to follow our very successful teaching methodology.

Very good IT skills are necessary as teachers use lots of online resources, digital book platforms and mostly power points projected onto the board, rather than frequently writing with board pens.

2 recent references from previous posts are required, including at least 1 from a teaching post.

Knowledge of Spanish is not necessary, although the ability to live independently is.
