Job Details

English Tarragona are looking for an experienced, dynamic and passionate individual to undertake the role of Director of Studies at their language academies in Tarragona, Spain.


– Mentorship of teachers – providing ideas, resources, tools to enable them to deliver classes to the best of their abilities.

– Setting and monitoring objectives – providing teachers with specific objectives and following up with them until completion or intervening if targets aren’t being met.

– Curriculum Development – editing and developing yearly plans and learning maps to ensure teachers can deliver the correct syllabus in the time-frame required.

– Exam Standardisation – developing Christmas and June exams according to level to be able to gauge students’ progress.

– Student Mentorship – becoming familiar with students with difficulties (regarding level or interaction in class) and implementing strategies to address them. Providing support and assistance to students who may take official exams.

– Material Development – working on the creation of material to complement the course books.

– Organising Professional Development Sessions – identifying areas in which the staff could improve and liaising with teacher trainers to organise sessions.

– Teaching – teaching up to 15 hours per week.

The successful candidate would work directly under the 2 school directors and receive support and assistance from them. This is a newly created role due to the expansion of the business and the resulting increase in number of teachers and students.
