For a year or a career, it’s an experience of a lifetime!
Discover Japan as a language instructor.
This chain of English conversation schools has branches throughout Japan. They currently offer courses in nine different languages.
Their brand delivers high-quality instruction and other language services to those who wish to improve their communicative proficiency in foreign languages. Students of a wide range of ages and ability levels, from complete beginner to very advanced, can choose to take small group or private lessons face-to-face in one of the many school branches throughout Japan. All textbooks used were created in-house and were designed specifically for developing communicative ability.
All their instructors are native-level speakers of the language that they teach. Some begin their careers with previous experience as educators and some with no prior teaching experience. Regardless, every instructor completes a comprehensive training program before they start teaching for them. The program equips them with everything they need to be able to teach high quality lessons and provide excellent customer service.
Instructor responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Selecting, planning and conducting lessons.
- Monitoring student performance and reporting on student progress.
- Performing demonstration lessons and level assessments for new or potential students.
- Promoting available products and services.
- Maintaining a clean, comfortable and welcoming environment.
A typical day:
No two days are exactly the same, and each shift brings a different mix of lessons and students. A typical lesson schedule will be made up of regular adult conversation lessons (group and one-on-one), and possibly one or more Bilingual Kids lessons (group and one-on-one) and/or one or more Voice lessons (designated days and times only).
Each lesson is forty minutes long, with a ten minute interval between classes. The interval includes time for record-keeping, lesson selection, a short break and a chance to interact with students and visitors in a more informal context. Many branches include a lounge where students can relax and chat with instructors and other students before and after their lessons.
