Responsibility
Under the guidance of the Head of teaching or Subject Leader, Subject Teachers will work to achieve these objectives by:
• Plan and implement lessons according to the curriculum.
• Give appropriate and timely feedback to students and parents.
• Contribute to maintaining and developing the curriculum in line with IB values and objectives; assess student progress against those objectives and use that assessment data and other data to inform further curriculum development.
• Assist the Head of Teaching or Subject leader in maintaining and developing subject resources; a range of learning activities that support IB objectives and values; assist in communicating subject information to parents and students and provide advice on subject options.
• Support the Student Assistance Teams as required.
• Act professionally and ethically in carrying out duties and responsibilities.
Breakdown of Responsibilities
Written Curriculum
Subject teachers will collaborate within their subject teams that the written curriculum:
• Is comprehensive and aligns with the requirements of the IB program
• Will be informed by current IB publications and is reviewed regularly to incorporate developments in the program
• Builds on previous learning experiences
• Promotes students’ awareness of individual, local, national, and world issues
• Emphasizes the processes of gathering, organizing, presenting, and applying ideas and information as well as the mastery of content knowledge
• Provide opportunities for students to participate in, and reflect upon, the assessment of their work
• Ensure an overview of students’ learning experiences
• Teaching and assessment of student work and learning
• Assessments are designed to allow all subject objectives to be met to the highest standards
• Ensure student work is access consistently (standardized with other teachers)
Requirements
• Assist in the supervision of the Personal Project, Extended Essay, CA, and other core requirements of IB program
• MUST HAVE IBDP OR A-LEVEL OR AP Economics teaching experience
• Have duties as a homeroom teacher
• Provide extra curriculum activities in line with school policy
• Assist in the supervision of students out of classroom time
• Attend all school meetings and events as directed and consistent with contractual
