TEFL Org UK Charity of the Year Update – June 2018

This year we’re proud to have been working with ActionAid as our charity of the year, and already we’ve been able to raise plenty of funds for them to help their goal of improving the lives of women in some of the world’s developing countries.

Find out more below about what we’ve been doing and how much we’ve raised.

Day Off Raffle

At the start of the year we held a raffle in the office where our employees could make a small donation with a chance to win a coveted free day of annual leave. Our fantastic administrator Fiona won the prize!

Bake Off

After almost three months of tense and tasty competition, TEFL Org UK has crowned it’s Bake Off winner, our wonderful Web Designer Jake!

Our Bake Off was in aid of our Charity of the Year ActionAid, with a donation being made for each cake baked.

You can check out a gallery below of all of the delicious cakes included in our competition, let us know what you think in the comments below.

Customer Donations

With every course purchase our customers make with us, there is the opportunity to donate £1, £5 or £10 to ActionAid.  So far this year generous donations from our customers have raised almost £800, and we’re delighted to be matching every £1 donated, bringing this total to £1,600. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated! If you’d like to donate without purchasing from us, you can do so on ActionAid’s website: https://www.actionaid.org.uk/donate

Not This Girl campaign

With your kind donations, along with our internal fundraising such as our Bake Off, we’re proud to be donating almost £2,000 to ActionAid already.

We’ve made our first donation this week to ensure that it’s included in ActionAid’s “Not this Girl” campaign, aiming to stop sexual violence in Kenya, where one in three women will experience sexual violence in their lifetime, and only 10% of those will be able to access the support they need.

You can find out more information about this campaign on ActionAid’s website or in their YouTube video below:

As part of this campaign, any donations made will be doubled by the UK Government – so for every £1 we’ve donated, ActionAid will have £2 to put towards their important work.

If you’d like to get some hands-on involvement with some ActionAid’s work in Africa, there are two fantastic projects in Mozambique and Rwanda that you can take part in for a week each this year.

We have lots more planned this year to raise money for ActionAid, including taking part in the Beast Race, Loch Ness 10k/Marathon, River Ness Raft Race and some exciting corporate events to celebrate our 10th birthday this October!

Thanks again to all our customers who have helped us support ActionAid so far this year, and we look forward to doing even more during the rest of 2018.
